Job summary

Placements24 seeks a highly analytical Wireless Network Planner to design and optimize wireless networks across multiple geographic areas within South Africa, focusing on Richards Bay and KwaZulu-Natal regions. The role emphasizes capacity planning, coverage analysis, and deployment of next‑generation infrastructure.

The ideal candidate holds a strong RF engineering foundation, with practical experience using planning tools and a proven ability to work remotely while managing multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in wireless network planning and design (LTE, 5G, Wi‑Fi).
• Proficiency with RF planning tools (Atoll, Planet).
• Strong understanding of radio propagation, antennas, and interference analysis.
• Experience with network simulation and modeling.
• Knowledge of mobile network architecture and protocols.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
• Strong technical writing and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects remotely.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed wireless network designs including cell site placement and antenna configuration.
• Conduct coverage and capacity planning using RF planning tools and propagation models.
• Analyze network performance data to identify optimization opportunities.
• Perform site surveys (virtual or in-person) to assess feasibility and interference sources.
• Collaborate with RF engineers, field ops, and project managers for deployment.
• Create and maintain network documentation, maps, reports, and databases.
• Evaluate new wireless technologies for potential impact on design and performance.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and spectrum management.
• Support troubleshooting of design or coverage issues.
