Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Wind Turbine Technician to monitor and troubleshoot wind turbine fleets from a home-based setup in South Africa. You will use SCADA and remote tools to analyze real-time data, guide on-site teams, and generate performance reports, while adhering to safety standards and remote collaboration practices.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in wind turbine operations or monitoring and hold a degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics or related field.
• Minimum 3 years' experience with wind turbines in operations, maintenance, or monitoring.
• Proficient with SCADA and remote monitoring platforms in energy sector.
• Strong understanding of wind turbine mechanics, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent remote communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time remotely.
• Willingness to work shifts for 24/7 monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Remotely monitor wind turbine performance using SCADA systems.
• Analyze real-time data to identify issues, anomalies and degradation.
• Perform initial remote diagnostics and troubleshooting of faults and alarms.
• Guide on-site technicians through maintenance and repair procedures remotely.
• Generate detailed reports on turbine performance, faults, and maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records of remote operations in the asset management system.
• Collaborate with engineering teams for system improvements and predictive maintenance.
• Adhere to safety protocols during remote management.
• Participate in virtual meetings and training sessions.
