Fancourt is seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead a fully remote short-term underwriting team in South Africa. You will shape underwriting strategy, set guidelines, and drive profitable growth while managing risk and performance from a home office.

The role requires strong leadership, technical underwriting expertise, and a proven ability to deliver results in a remote environment. Collaboration with sales, claims, actuarial, and product teams is essential for success.

Formación

• Minimum 10 years in short-term underwriting with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record in profitable underwriting and strategy development.
• Deep knowledge of short-term lines: Commercial, Personal, Marine, Liability.
• Strong regulatory, pricing, reserving knowledge relevant to South Africa.

Responsabilidades

• Develop, implement, and refine underwriting strategies for short-term products.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a remote underwriting team.
• Monitor portfolio performance and inform decisions with key metrics.
• Collaborate with sales, claims, actuarial, and product teams to align objectives.
• Oversee risk assessment for large accounts and provide final approvals.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and budget/resource management.
