Placements24 is seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead the personal lines division in a remote-first role with occasional travel within the North West region. You will oversee underwriting operations, shape strategies, manage risk, and mentor a team of underwriters to align with growth objectives and risk appetite.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in personal lines products, robust analytical and leadership abilities, and a proven track record of driving profitability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Finance, or related field.
• 8+ years in insurance underwriting, with 3+ in management.
• Strong knowledge of personal lines products (household, motor, travel).
• Strong analytical, risk assessment, and decision-making skills.
• Experience leading remote teams and using underwriting software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage underwriting strategies for personal lines.
• Oversee daily underwriting team operations and risk assessments.
• Monitor profitability and KPIs; take corrective actions.
• Approve/reject applications within delegated authority.
• Collaborate with product teams to refine offerings.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and company policies.
• Mentor and develop underwriters; drive continuous improvement.
• Analyse market trends to stay competitive in North West.
