Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in insurance underwriting
• At least 3 years in a management or leadership role
• Demonstrated success in developing underwriting strategies for profitable growth
• Knowledge of various insurance products and risk assessment methodologies
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements in underwriting
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of insurance underwriters with clear performance objectives
• Develop and execute the overall underwriting strategy aligned with financial goals and risk appetite
• Establish, review, and enforce underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures across lines of business
• Monitor underwriting performance, profitability, and market trends; adjust as needed
• Collaborate with claims, sales, and actuarial to align objectives across departments
• Manage relationships with brokers and agents, providing guidance on complex underwriting matters
