Placements24 is seeking a proactive Cybersecurity Threat Hunter for a fintech client based in Centurion, Gauteng. This remote-first role focuses on detecting undetected threats, leveraging threat intel, and conducting forensic analysis to strengthen the security posture.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in cybersecurity, with 2–3 years in threat hunting, and strong skills in Python/PowerShell/Bash, plus experience with EDR tools and SIEM platforms.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of cybersecurity experience.
• 2–3 years focused on threat hunting, IR, or advanced threat analysis.
• Proven experience with EDR tools and SIEM platforms.
• Strong scripting in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Relevant certifications (GCTI, GCFA, GREM, SANS GIAC) are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute proactive threat hunting methodologies.
• Analyze large datasets from endpoint logs, network traffic, and alerts.
• Investigate incidents and perform forensic analysis when needed.
• Use threat intelligence to inform hunting strategies and prioritization.
• Create custom detection rules, scripts, and tools.
• Collaborate with SOC and IR teams to validate findings and remediate.
• Document findings, methodologies, and recommendations.
• Stay current with TTPs and present insights to security leadership.
• Contribute to threat intelligence program in Gauteng.
