Job summary

Placements24 in Cape Town seeks a proactive Cybersecurity Threat Hunter to join the advanced security operations team. This role focuses on identifying and neutralizing threats that evade defenses, leveraging cutting-edge tools and threat intelligence in a fully remote capacity.

You will search for APTs, develop detection hypotheses, analyze large security datasets, and document findings for remediation with incident response. Strong analytical thinking is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience in threat hunting, incident response, or security operations.
• Strong understanding of kill chains, adversary TTPs, and threat intel analysis.
• Proficiency with SIEM, EDR, network analysis tools, and scripting (Python/PowerShell).

Responsibilities

• Proactively hunt for advanced threats and adversaries within network environments.
• Develop and deploy detection hypotheses based on threat intel and TTPs.
• Utilize SIEM, EDR, network tools, and threat intel platforms.
• Analyze large datasets for IOCs and anomalous behavior.
• Document findings and collaborate with incident response for remediation.
• Continuously research emerging threats to refine hunting methods.
