Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Strategic Sourcing Manager for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will shape and lead strategic sourcing for key categories, drive cost savings, and manage risk across supplier networks in the renewable energy/tech sector.

Collaborate with Engineering, Operations and Finance to align sourcing strategies with business goals, while building strong supplier partnerships and delivering measurable value in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in supply chain, business, engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement.
• Proven track record in complex sourcing initiatives and cost savings.
• Expertise in negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
• Strong analytical, financial modelling, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-term strategic sourcing plans for assigned categories.
• Conduct market analysis including supplier landscape, cost drivers, and trends.
• Lead complex sourcing events with RFx processes, negotiations, and contracts.
• Manage key supplier relationships for performance, innovation, and risk mitigation.
• Identify and realise cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing initiatives.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Finance to drive alignment on requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance against contracts and implement corrective actions.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging sourcing methodologies.
• Manage risks within the supply base and develop contingency plans.
• Provide subject matter expertise on strategic sourcing to the organization.
