Placements24 in South Africa seeks a dedicated Remote Purchasing Officer to drive sourcing of raw materials, components, and equipment for a manufacturing client. This fully remote role demands sharp negotiation, supplier onboarding, and end-to-end purchase order management to support production goals.

You will monitor markets, manage supplier relationships, and pursue cost savings while ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and compliance with purchasing policies within a remote-first procurement

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in purchasing, procurement, or similar roles.
• Proven ability to source materials, negotiate with suppliers, and manage purchase orders.
• Strong understanding of material markets and supply chain principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure raw materials, components, and equipment per quality and delivery specs.
• Identify, onboard, and evaluate suppliers meeting quality, cost, and reliability standards.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to maximize value.
• Manage the procure-to-pay cycle: create/manage POs, track deliveries, process invoices.
• Collaborate with production/engineering to understand material needs and ensure timely supply.
• Monitor market trends and supplier performance; identify risks and opportunities.
• Maintain records of procurement activities, supplier data, and pricing agreements.
• Prepare reports on purchasing activities, cost savings and KPIs.
• Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and ethics.
