Job summary

WhatJobs Direct is seeking a diligent Information Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to join a fully remote team. You will monitor, detect, and respond to cyber threats 24/7, analyze security alerts, investigate suspicious activities, and escalate incidents as needed.

This is a hands-on, remote SOC role ideal for building cybersecurity skills. The role requires 1–2 years in SOC or related IT security, familiarity with SIEM/EDR/IDS-IPS, and a Bachelor's in a related field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in a SOC environment or related IT security role.
• Familiarity with SIEM tools, IDS/IPS, and EDR solutions.
• Understanding of common network protocols, Windows and Linux operating systems, and security concepts.
• Basic knowledge of threat analysis and incident investigation techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment and manage workload independently.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work in shifts, including nights and weekends if required by the operational model.
• CompTIA Security+ or similar entry-level security certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events using SIEM and other security tools.
• Analyze potential security incidents and determine appropriate courses of action.
• Investigate security anomalies and suspicious activities on the network and systems.
• Escalate security incidents to senior analysts or incident response teams when necessary.
• Perform initial triage and investigation of security alerts.
• Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of SOC playbooks and procedures.
• Assist in the creation of security reports and metrics.
• Participate in security awareness initiatives.
• Adhere to shift schedules as required for 24/7 monitoring.
