About the Role

Our client, a cutting-edge health technology company, is seeking an experienced and innovative Remote Senior UX/UI Designer to spearhead the design of their next-generation wellness mobile application. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in South Africa. You will be responsible for translating complex user needs into intuitive, engaging, and visually appealing digital experiences. This role demands a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in mobile app design, and a passion for creating products that genuinely improve people's health and well-being. You will collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and researchers to deliver a seamless and impactful user journey from concept to launch. As a remote-first team member, you'll be integral to shaping the future of digital wellness solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design process for a wellness mobile application, from user research and wireframing to high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes.


• Conduct user research, usability testing, and heuristic evaluations to gather insights and validate design decisions.


• Develop comprehensive user flows, site maps, and information architectures to ensure intuitive navigation and task completion.


• Create visually stunning and user-friendly interfaces, ensuring brand consistency and aesthetic appeal across all screens.


• Design and maintain a design system and style guides to ensure consistency and efficiency across the product.


• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and marketing, to define and implement features.


• Champion user-centered design principles throughout the organization, advocating for the user's needs.


• Iterate on designs based on user feedback, data analytics, and business requirements.


• Present design concepts and solutions clearly and persuasively to stakeholders.


• Stay ahead of industry trends in UX/UI design, mobile technology, and the digital health/wellness sector.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.


• A minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in UX/UI design, with a significant focus on mobile application design (iOS and Android).


• A strong portfolio demonstrating a deep understanding of UX principles, user research methodologies, and a proven track record of shipping successful digital products.


• Proficiency in industry-standard design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, etc.


• Experience designing for health, wellness, or fitness-related applications is highly preferred.


• Excellent understanding of mobile interaction design patterns and platform-specific guidelines (iOS Human Interface Guidelines, Android Material Design).


• Strong visual design skills, with an eye for detail, typography, color, and layout.


• Ability to articulate design rationale clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.


• Experience working in an agile development environment and collaborating with remote teams.


• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage time effectively in a fully remote setting.
