Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Solar PV Installation and Commissioning Engineer for a remote-first role with extensive travel to project sites. You will lead the installation, wiring, and inverter integration of large-scale PV systems, and manage commissioning, testing, and documentation to ensure safety and compliance.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in solar PV installations, strong leadership, and the ability to interpret schematics and PV designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 6+ years hands-on experience in installation and commissioning of solar PV systems.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and PV designs.
• Knowledge of grid-tied and off-grid PV, battery storage, and inverters.
• Strong project management and leadership skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively to project sites.
• Professional Engineer registration (Pr. Eng.) or Technologist (Pr. Tech. Eng.) with ECSA is advantageous.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee installation of solar PV arrays, including mounting, wiring, and inverter integration.
• Lead the commissioning process with thorough testing and performance verification.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and project specs.
• Develop installation plans, site layouts, and method statements.
• Conduct site surveys to assess feasibility and challenges.
• Troubleshoot technical issues affecting performance.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and installation teams.
• Maintain project documentation and commissioning logs.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and regulators.
• Stay updated on solar PV tech and best practices.
