Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer to lead planning, execution, and documentation of commissioning activities for electrical control systems. The role supports on-site teams remotely, with international project exposure and Durban-region connectivity.

You will guide commissioning activities, diagnose remotely, review test reports, and ensure safety standards and regulatory compliance, while collaborating across design, project management, and client teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with industrial electrical systems, control panels, PLCs and SCADA systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control logic.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex issues remotely.
• Exceptional communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
• Familiarity with relevant international electrical and safety standards.
• Experience across industries (manufacturing, mining, power) is advantageous.
• Must be eligible to work remotely with a stable internet connection.

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop electrical commissioning strategies and procedures.
• Provide remote technical guidance to on-site engineers and technicians.
• Perform remote diagnostics and troubleshooting of electrical control systems and PLCs.
• Review and approve commissioning test reports and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and project specifications.
• Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and clients to resolve issues.
• Conduct remote training sessions for site personnel on system operation and maintenance.
• Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders.
• Assist in developing commissioning documentation and handover packages.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of commissioning processes and tools.
