Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Production Chemist for a fully remote role based in South Africa. You will optimize production chemistry, corrosion control, scale inhibition, and flow assurance across upstream and midstream assets while supporting remote teams and stakeholders.

The role requires 7–9 years of production chemistry experience, a master’s or PhD in a related field, and strong analytical and communication skills to guide operations and improve asset integrity.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge in production chemistry, corrosion, and scale inhibition.
• Experience with lab analysis techniques and instrumentation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects remotely and deliver results on time.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose production chemistry issues including corrosion, scale, paraffin, and hydrates.
• Develop and monitor chemical treatment programs to optimize production.
• Interpret laboratory data to assess fluid composition and potential problems.
• Conduct field studies and data analysis to evaluate treatment effectiveness.
• Provide technical guidance to production and operations teams on chemical matters.
• Evaluate new production chemicals and technologies for performance and cost.
• Ensure environmental regulations and company policies on chemical handling are followed.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations for management.
• Stay updated on advancements in production chemistry and flow assurance.
• Mentor junior chemists and contribute to team development.
