Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Principal Information Security Consultant for a remote-first engagement. This senior advisory role will provide expert guidance and strategic direction to enhance the organization’s security posture across business units.

You will assess security risks, advise on best practices, and assist with the implementation of advanced security controls. The role demands a proactive, strategic mindset and the ability to operate autonomously from anywhere in South Africa.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent extensive experience in information security.
• 10+ years in information security with consulting or senior advisory experience.
• Deep knowledge of cyber risk, security controls and governance frameworks.
• Proven track record in delivering strategic security roadmaps for large organisations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security assessments and gap analyses against standards and regulations.
• Develop strategic security recommendations and roadmaps for leadership.
• Advise on advanced security technologies and solutions deployment.
• Help design and enhance security policies, procedures and governance.
• Provide consultation on cyber risk, threat intel and incident planning.
• Evaluate and improve existing security controls and processes.
• Support project teams to embed security into system design and development.
• Mentor junior staff and share knowledge within the security community.
• Stay updated on threats and vulnerabilities; share actionable insights.
• Lead workshops and training on specialized security topics.
