Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geneticist to join a remote-first R&D team focused on designing, validating, and improving genetic tests for rare diseases, inherited conditions, and pharmacogenomics. You will work independently to develop assays, analyze complex data, and translate findings into clinically meaningful insights.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Genetics or closely related field.
• Minimum 6 years hands-on experience in genetic research and diagnostic assay development.
• Proven track record in developing and validating clinical genetic tests.
• Experience with NGS, Sanger sequencing, and qPCR.
• Excellent remote communication and independent work skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and validation of new genetic assays (PCR, sequencing, microarrays).
• Design experimental protocols for genetic analysis with robustness and clinical utility in mind.
• Analyze and interpret complex genetic data to identify variants and markers.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to translate diagnostic needs into assay requirements.
• Stay updated on advancements in genetic technologies and disease genetics.
• Contribute to regulatory submission documents (FDA, CE-IVD).
• Troubleshoot assay performance issues and implement corrections.
• Author scientific reports and present findings at forums.
• Mentor junior scientists and provide technical guidance.
• Ensure compliance with quality management systems and regulatory standards.
