Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead large-scale financial systems initiatives, including ERP, core banking, and trading platforms. The role is fully remote with flexible location options such as Randburg or other SA locations.

You will oversee end-to-end project delivery, define scopes and budgets, manage teams and vendors, and ensure regulatory compliance while driving improvements in project management practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with a substantial focus on financial systems within the financial services industry.
• Proven track record of delivering complex financial system implementations (ERP, accounting software, trading platforms, risk management systems).
• In-depth knowledge of financial processes, accounting principles, and regulatory environments (Basel III, IFRS).
• Experience managing remote teams and utilizing collaborative technologies effectively.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with project management software (MS Project, Jira) and financial systems.
• PMP, Prince2, or relevant financial/IT certifications are a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the end-to-end delivery of complex financial systems projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Define project scope, objectives, technical specifications, and deliverables, working closely with finance and IT stakeholders.
• Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, risk management strategies, and budget control.
• Manage project teams, including internal resources, external consultants, and vendor partners, fostering effective collaboration in a remote setting.
• Oversee the implementation, configuration, testing, and deployment of new financial software and systems.
• Ensure all projects comply with financial regulations, data privacy laws, and internal governance policies.
• Identify, track, and mitigate project risks and issues proactively, ensuring minimal disruption to financial operations.
• Facilitate clear and timely communication with all stakeholders, providing regular status updates, managing expectations, and delivering comprehensive reports.
• Drive process improvements and best practices in financial systems project management.
