Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Senior Field Application Engineer (FAE) to join our client’s team. This remote role supports customers across South Africa, providing deep expertise in embedded systems, microcontrollers, and related technologies throughout the design cycle.

You will deliver technical presentations, create reference designs, and collaborate with sales, R&D, and marketing to address customer needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in embedded systems design, application engineering, or a similar technical role.
• Deep understanding of microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM Cortex-M/A), peripherals, and memory technologies.
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming and embedded software development tools.
• Experience with debugging tools (e.g., JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).
• Familiarity with RTOS and communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers to understand their embedded system application requirements and challenges.
• Provide in-depth technical support and guidance on selection and implementation of microcontrollers, SoCs, and related embedded components.
• Develop and deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, and training sessions.
• Assist customers with hardware and software design challenges, including debugging and performance optimization.
• Create reference designs, application notes, and technical documentation to facilitate customer adoption.
• Collaborate closely with internal sales, marketing, and R&D teams to address customer needs and provide feedback.
• Build and maintain relationships with key technical decision-makers at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide timely solutions.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and new technologies in embedded systems.
• Represent the company at technical conferences and trade shows.
