Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Formulations Chemist to join its cosmetics R&D team on a fully remote basis. You will lead development of skincare, haircare, and color cosmetics, working with global teams to drive concept, testing, scale-up, and launch.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in cosmetic formulation, strong analytical skills (HPLC, GC-MS, viscometry), and deep regulatory understanding. A remote-first culture supports independent work and scientific rigor.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or closely related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on cosmetic formulation development experience.
• Deep understanding of cosmetic ingredients and regulatory implications.
• Proficiency with analytical techniques (HPLC, GC-MS, viscometry).
• Strong problem-solving and independent project management abilities.
• Experience working in a fully remote team with global partners.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize skincare, haircare, and color cosmetic formulations.
• Research new materials and active ingredients for innovative products.
• Perform bench-scale trials, analyze results, and troubleshoot issues.
• Scale up to pilot and production batches with manufacturing teams.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and quality across global markets.
• Prepare technical documents, procedures, and stability protocols.
• Collaborate with marketing, regulatory, and QA teams throughout development.
• Stay current with literature and industry trends to drive innovation.
• Provide technical support to marketing and sales on product performance.
• Mentor junior chemists and guide complex formulation challenges.
