Placements24 is seeking a Senior Insurance Underwriter (Commercial) for a role based in Sandton, Gauteng. The candidate will oversee underwriting for a portfolio of commercial risks and guide junior underwriters, while ensuring alignment with risk appetite and profitability targets.

The ideal candidate has at least 7 years in commercial insurance underwriting, a related bachelor’s degree, and strong analytical and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage a portfolio of commercial insurance risks with focus on profitability.
• Conduct in-depth risk analysis for complex commercial accounts (property, casualty, liability).
• Build and maintain relationships with brokers and agents, providing underwriting support.
• Interpret and apply underwriting policies, procedures, and guidelines accurately.
• Mentor junior underwriters and share best practices in commercial underwriting.
