Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Chemical Project Engineer for a contract role in Sandton, Gauteng. You will manage capital projects from feasibility through commissioning, coordinating with engineers, consultants, and suppliers to meet safety and regulatory standards.

The role requires a minimum of 7 years in chemical/process project management, strong P&ID and process design skills, and a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in project engineering and management, specifically within chemical or process industries.
• Proven track record of successfully managing capital projects from initiation to completion.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Proficiency in P&ID development, process design, and equipment selection.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of capital projects from conceptualization to commissioning.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules, and ensure adherence to them.
• Coordinate with internal engineering teams, external consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
• Ensure projects comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee procurement of equipment and services, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage on-site construction activities and ensure efficient execution.
• Conduct regular project progress meetings and prepare status reports.
• Identify and mitigate project risks.
• Facilitate project close-out and post-project reviews.
