Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Project Manager to lead a major supply chain modernization initiative for a leading FMCG company. You will manage the full project lifecycle, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive the adoption of new logistics technologies from a remote location.

The role requires at least 7 years of project management experience in supply chain, strong virtual leadership, and proficiency with PM software.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of project management experience in supply chain, logistics or operations.
• Experience leading large-scale supply chain transformation or technology implementations.
• Proficiency with PM software and SCM systems; strong analytical skills.

Responsabilités

• Manage full project lifecycle for supply chain modernization from planning to handover.
• Define scope, objectives, timelines and resources with stakeholders.
• Lead virtual cross-functional teams of logistics, IT and operations staff.
• Develop and manage project budgets to achieve cost targets.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to disruptions and technology implementations.
• Oversee selection and implementation of new SC technologies (WMS, TMS, automation).

About the Role

Our client, a major player in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) sector, is seeking an experienced Remote Project Manager to lead a critical supply chain modernization initiative. This is a fully remote role, focused on transforming and optimizing the company's logistics, warehousing, and distribution networks. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of supply chain operations, a proven track record in managing complex, cross-functional projects, and exceptional skills in virtual collaboration and stakeholder management. You will be responsible for implementing new technologies, refining operational processes, and ensuring greater efficiency and resilience across the entire supply chain. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full project lifecycle for supply chain modernization efforts, from strategic planning to implementation and handover.
• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements in collaboration with supply chain stakeholders.
• Lead and motivate virtual, cross-functional teams comprised of logistics experts, IT professionals, and operational staff.
• Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and achieving financial targets.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with supply chain disruptions and technology implementations.
• Oversee the selection and implementation of new supply chain technologies, such as WMS, TMS, and automation solutions.
• Ensure seamless integration of new systems and processes across the supply chain network.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track project success and ongoing operational efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including senior leadership, providing regular updates on progress, challenges, and outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of project management experience, with a strong emphasis on supply chain, logistics, or operations projects.
• Demonstrated success in leading large-scale supply chain transformation or technology implementation projects.
• In-depth knowledge of modern supply chain principles, best practices, and relevant technologies.
• Excellent virtual communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and supply chain management systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach.
• Experience working in the FMCG or a related high-volume industry is advantageous.
• Must be comfortable working remotely and reside within South Africa, with connectivity suitable for remote work, ideally within reasonable proximity to Vereeniging .
