About the Role

Our client, a global leader in supply chain management and logistics, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead strategic initiatives and drive operational excellence. This is a fully remote role, ideal for a motivated professional who can manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams without direct physical supervision. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and execution of projects aimed at optimizing supply chain networks, implementing new technologies, and improving overall efficiency. Based ideally within commuting distance of East London, Eastern Cape for occasional meetings, this role demands exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills to deliver transformative results across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of large-scale logistics and supply chain projects from initiation to completion.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
• Manage and motivate project teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring adherence to project goals.
• Oversee the selection and implementation of new supply chain technologies and software solutions.
• Analyze existing supply chain processes, identify areas for improvement, and develop and execute optimization plans.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure effective communication with internal departments, external partners, and vendors.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential issues or risks, and implement timely corrective actions.
• Ensure projects align with business objectives and deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, cost reduction, and service levels.
• Develop and manage project budgets, track financial performance, and provide regular reports to senior management.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging trends in logistics and supply chain management.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in project management within the logistics and supply chain sector.
• Proven success in managing complex, multi-year projects with significant operational impact.
• Demonstrated experience with supply chain optimization, network design, and technology implementation (e.g., WMS, TMS, ERP).
• Expertise in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira).
• Exceptional leadership, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage remote teams effectively.
• Strong understanding of global supply chain dynamics and best practices.
• Experience in managing budgets exceeding R50 million.
• Professional certifications such as PMP, APICS CSCP, or similar are highly desirable.
