Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, seeks a Product Compliance Counsel based in South Africa to oversee regulatory compliance for digital products, marketing materials, and related technologies in EU and US markets within a remote-first setup. You will collaborate with Product and Marketing, identify compliance risks, review features, monitor evolving laws, and help implement governance frameworks.

Qualifications

A bachelor's or master's degree in Law or an equivalent legal qualification.
Knowledge of consumer protection legislation in the European Union and the United States, with the ability to assess its implications for digital products and online services.
Understanding of marketing and advertising compliance requirements in the EU and US, including promotional claims, digital advertising practices, and consumer-facing communications.
Familiarity with European and US digital legislation, regulatory frameworks for technology platforms, and emerging requirements related to artificial intelligence governance.
Knowledge of Apple App Store and Google Play guidelines, including platform-specific requirements affecting mobile applications, monetisation, and product functionality.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Russian, at a minimum B2 level in both languages.

Responsibilities

Review and approve product specifications for websites and mobile applications, ensuring compliance with applicable legal requirements and platform policies.
Assess risks associated with product features, user journeys, monetisation models, and digital service functionality.
Participate in product compliance audits and incident response activities.
Review advertising materials, promotional campaigns, and marketing communications for compliance with legislation and platform requirements.
Advise Marketing teams on consumer protection, advertising standards, promotional claims, and potential legal risks.
Support marketing compliance audits and implementation of corrective actions.
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments across relevant jurisdictions, particularly EU and US, and communicate updates.
Assess impact on products, marketing, and processes and implement necessary changes.
Track sanctions-related regulatory developments and support internal sanctions policies and controls.
Contribute to development and delivery of compliance training and guidance materials.
Review AI-enabled products and third-party AI integrations for regulatory compliance and governance.
