Job summary
Placements24 seeks a Process Design Engineer for a petrochemical client near Klerksdorp to develop process designs for new facilities and modifications, applying chemical engineering principles and design software.
You will lead PFDs, P&IDs, simulations, equipment sizing, and feasibility studies, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams to ensure safe, compliant designs and on-time project delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in process design, preferably in petrochemical/oil & gas.
- Proficient in process simulation software (HYSYS, PRO/II, Aspen Plus).
- Strong understanding of unit operations, thermodynamics, and reaction engineering.
Responsibilities
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Perform process simulations and calculations for mass and energy balances, equipment sizing, and hydraulics.
- Specify process equipment including reactors, columns, heat exchangers, and pumps.
- Conduct feasibility studies and prepare technical reports for new projects.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated design.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, codes, and safety policies.
