Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Power Systems Analyst to enhance grid performance from a remote capacity with occasional Centurion, Gauteng meetings. You will conduct in-depth analyses, build simulation models, and provide expert recommendations to optimize stability and efficiency of power systems.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems specialization.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in power system analysis, operations, or planning.
• Expertise in power system simulation software such as PSS/E, ETAP, PowerWorld, or similar.
• Solid understanding of power system dynamics, protection principles, and grid codes.
• Proficiency in data analysis, statistics, and programming (Python, MATLAB).
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a remote team environment.
• Familiarity with South African grid standards is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel to Centurion, Gauteng for key meetings and site visits.

Responsibilities

• Perform analyses of power system performance (load flow, fault analysis, stability studies).
• Develop, validate, and maintain power system simulation models.
• Analyze grid data to identify issues, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Provide technical recommendations for upgrades, operations, and protection schemes.
• Collaborate with grid operators and engineers to ensure reliability.
• Research and evaluate new technologies and methodologies for analysis.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for management.
• Assist in planning and integrating renewable energy sources into the grid.
• Contribute to development of analytical tools and processes.
• Respond to emergent system issues with rapid analysis and support.
