Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Plant Pathologist to join a global leader in agricultural R&D. This fully remote role involves diagnosing plant diseases, developing IPDM strategies, and advising clients and researchers worldwide.

You will leverage advanced diagnostics, data analysis, and scientific collaboration to protect crops and strengthen food security from your home office. The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc in Plant Pathology or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years diagnosing plant diseases and forming management strategies.
• Strong knowledge of fungal, bacterial, viral pathogens and life cycles.
• Proficient in laboratory techniques for pathogen ID and characterization.
• Experience with data analysis and statistical software for epidemiology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Familiarity with remote sensing and GIS is a plus.
• Must have reliable internet and a dedicated home office.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose plant diseases in various crops using symptomology, microscopy, and molecular techniques.
• Develop and recommend integrated pest and disease management strategies.
• Conduct literature reviews and research on emerging pathogens.
• Analyze disease survey data and epidemiological patterns to predict outbreaks.
• Collaborate virtually with breeders, agronomists, and field scouts to monitor health.
• Provide technical support and expert consultations to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to development of diagnostic tools, databases, and decision support systems.
• Prepare scientific reports, proposals, and publications on plant pathology.
• Stay updated on global regulatory requirements and best practices.
