Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, Mycology, Bacteriology, Virology, or related field.
• ≥5 years post-doctoral research in plant pathology with strong publications.
• Expertise diagnosing diseases in major crops.
• Proficiency in molecular diagnostics (PCR, qPCR, sequencing) and bioinformatics.
• Remote-team work experience with strong self-discipline and time management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; experience presenting complex information.
• Experience with statistics software and data visualization tools.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a virtual setting.
• Reliable internet and home office setup for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose plant diseases using molecular, serological, and morphological techniques from samples submitted remotely.
• Develop and recommend integrated disease management strategies for various crops.
• Conduct literature reviews and stay updated on plant pathology and disease epidemiology.
• Analyze data from remote sensing, field reports, and laboratory diagnostics to identify hotspots and predict outbreaks.
• Provide expert consultation and technical guidance to producers, researchers, and extension agents globally via virtual platforms.
• Collaborate with international teams on research projects, grant writing, and publications.
• Develop training materials and conduct webinars on disease ID and management for remote audiences.
• Contribute to development and validation of new diagnostic tools and technologies.
