Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly qualified Remote Plant Pathologist to join its global research division. The role focuses on identifying, diagnosing, and managing plant diseases affecting crops worldwide, using remote sensing, molecular diagnostics, and digital collaboration tools.

You will work with international researchers and data analysts to monitor outbreaks, assess impacts, and develop evidence-based control strategies.

Qualifications

• This role requires a PhD with a strong focus on plant diseases and post-doctoral research experience.
• Experience diagnosing diseases, epidemiology, and disease management for major crops.
• Ability to interpret molecular, epidemiological, and image data; remote sensing/digital imaging is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose plant diseases using remote sensing data and field reports.
• Conduct literature reviews and synthesize information on plant diseases and management.
• Develop and validate diagnostic protocols and models for pathogens.
• Collaborate with international teams to monitor disease spread and crop losses.
• Contribute to IPM/IDM strategies and analyze lab data to confirm diagnoses.
• Prepare scientific reports and assist in grant proposals and project planning.
