Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Petroleum Geologist to join a fully remote exploration team. The role is based from Welkom, Free State, SA, and involves analyzing seismic data, building geological models, and delivering high-quality assessments for hydrocarbon opportunities.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Geology or Petroleum Geology with 6+ years’ experience, excels in seismic interpretation, and works effectively in a remote, digital-collaboration environment.

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree in Geology, Petroleum Geology, or related geoscience discipline.
• Minimum 6 years' experience in petroleum exploration geology, preferably in Oil & Gas.
• Strong understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy and depositional environments.
• Proficient in Petrel, GeoGraphix or similar software.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills; able to work remotely.

Aufgaben

• Analyze geological data (seismic, well logs, cores, regional studies) to identify hydrocarbon plays.
• Develop and refine geological models to support exploration targets and prospects.
• Integrate geophysical, petrophysical and geochemical data for subsurface interpretations.
• Conduct prospectivity and risk analyses with volumetric assessments.
• Prepare geological reports, presentations, and prospect summaries for reviews.
• Collaborate with remote team of geoscientists, engineers and management.
• Stay current with exploration technologies and industry trends in Oil & Gas.
• Utilize geological software and databases for data analysis and mapping.
• Provide input for well planning and drilling aligned with exploration objectives.
• Participate in virtual team meetings and strategic planning sessions.
