Placements24 seeks a Lead Petroleum Geologist to identify and mature exploration prospects using seismic interpretation, stratigraphy, and regional geology modeling. This fully remote position supports projects primarily tied to the North West region of South Africa and engages international teams.

The candidate will analyze seismic data, logs, cores, and geochemical data, develop regional models, and prepare risk assessments for drill sites.

Formación

• Master's or Ph.D. in Geology, Petroleum Geology, or a related earth science field.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in petroleum exploration geology with a strong track record.
• Expertise in seismic interpretation, sequence stratigraphy, and structural geology.
• Proficiency with industry-standard software such as Petrel, Kingdom Suite and IHS Markit tools.
• Ability to work independently and manage projects remotely.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for an international remote team.
• Oil & Gas sector experience is mandatory.

Responsabilidades

• Lead geological evaluation of exploration acreage and identify promising hydrocarbon prospects.
• Perform detailed analysis of seismic data, well logs, core samples, and geochemical data.
• Develop regional geological models and play fairway analyses.
• Integrate multidisciplinary data to assess prospectivity and risk.
• Prepare comprehensive geological reports, volumetric estimates, and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with remote teams including geophysicists and reservoir engineers.
• Mentor junior geologists within the virtual team.
• Stay current with industry best practices and new technologies.
• Contribute to the development of exploration strategy and portfolio management.
• Ensure geological work meets the highest technical standards.
