Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Network Infrastructure Technician to deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot complex network infrastructure for a global client base. This 100% remote role is based in South Africa, with on-call rotations and home-office requirements.

You will work with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP/OSPF, VPNs and firewalls, using Nagios/Zabbix/SolarWinds and Wireshark to ensure optimal performance and security.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on network infra experience with remote support.
• TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP/OSPF and switching tech knowledge.
• Experience with monitoring tools and packet analysis.
• Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP or equivalent are valued.

Responsibilities

• Remotely deploy, configure and manage network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs).
• Monitor performance and availability, preemptively resolve issues.
• Root cause analysis for outages and performance degradation.
• Develop and maintain network diagrams, configurations, procedures.
• Collaborate with systems security teams to ensure secure operations.
• Handle support tickets promptly and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Remotely deploy, configure, and manage network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.

• Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in network infrastructure management, with a focus on remote support.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), and switching technologies.
• Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds) and packet analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark).
• Proficiency in configuring and managing enterprise-level firewalls and VPN solutions.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote collaboration.
• Relevant networking certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent experience are highly valued.
• A dedicated home office setup with a stable, high-speed internet connection is mandatory.
• Experience supporting a geographically dispersed user base is a plus.
