Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Safety Officer to ensure robust health and safety compliance across mining operations in South Africa. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and monitoring safety protocols while working from a remote location.

You will analyze safety data, conduct virtual inspections, deliver training, investigate incidents, and advise site management. A SAMTRAC or NEBOSH certification and at least four years in mining HSE are required.

Qualifications

• Certification in OHS (SAMTRAC/NEBOSH) required.
• Minimum 4 years in health and safety management, mining sector preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of South African mining health and safety legislation (MHSA).
• Experience in developing and implementing safety management systems and conducting risk assessments.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills; suited for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement HSE management systems for mining environments.
• Conduct risk assessments across mine operations.
• Create and deliver remote safety training for all personnel.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents; recommend corrective actions.
• Monitor compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Maintain safety documentation and records with accuracy.
