Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Mine Safety Officer for mining operations near Port Elizabeth. You will develop and enforce safety policies, lead training, and conduct audits to protect personnel and the environment.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• CMSP or equivalent safety qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a safety professional in mining.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety management systems.
• Conduct site inspections and safety audits to identify hazards and non-compliance.
• Investigate accidents and near-misses, determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to site personnel, contractors and visitors.
• Ensure compliance with national and international health and safety legislation and regulations.
• Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, communication and leadership.
