Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Mechanical Design Engineer to design, analyze, and optimize complex mechanical systems from a fully remote setup. You will collaborate with an international team, validating designs through simulations and documentation, while coordinating prototypes and tests.

Occasional travel to Stellenbosch may be required for key events and project kick-offs. The ideal candidate has 6-8 years of progressive mechanical design experience, expertise in SolidWorks or CATIA, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 6-8 years of progressive mechanical design experience.
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA) and simulation tools (FEA, CFD).
• Proven remote-work capability with strong self-management and communication.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, injection molding, additive manufacturing).
• Portfolio of complex mechanical design projects desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems using advanced CAD software.
• Conduct engineering analysis (FEA, CFD, thermal) to optimize performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams using virtual tools.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and BOMs.
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation remotely.
