Placements24 is seeking a talented Remote Manufacturing Process Engineer to join a global manufacturing leader. The role is fully remote within South Africa, supporting Centurion, Gauteng operations and distributed teams across time zones.

You will analyze, design, and optimize processes, develop documentation, run simulations, and ensure safety and quality standards while collaborating with engineering, production, and quality teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years in manufacturing process engineering with emphasis on analysis/optimization.
• Experience with manufacturing equipment/automation systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing processes to identify improvements and cost reductions.
• Design and implement new or modified processes to meet specs and efficiency goals.
• Develop and maintain process documentation (flowcharts, SOPs, work instructions).
• Use simulation/modeling tools to test/validate changes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, quality) to implement processes.
• Monitor remote production data and KPIs to identify trends and opportunities.
• Troubleshoot process issues and implement solutions.
• Stay updated on manufacturing technologies and best practices.
• Develop/ deliver remote training for staff on new processes.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.

About the Role

This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost‑effectiveness. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, process optimization techniques, and the ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams across different time zones. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in manufacturing process engineering, with a strong focus on process analysis and optimization.
• Proven experience working with manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Arena, AnyLogic) and CAD tools is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and quality management systems (QMS).
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with distributed teams.
• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in manufacturing.
• Must be based in South Africa with the ability to work remotely.
