Qualifications

• Law degree (LLB or equivalent) or extensive paralegal experience with strong research focus.
• Demonstrated experience in legal research, preferably within a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Proficiency in using legal research databases such as LexisNexis, Westlaw, or equivalent SA platforms.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth legal research on civil, commercial, and statutory matters using online databases and other resources.
• Analyse and synthesize complex legal information, including case law, legislation, regulations, and scholarship.
• Prepare concise and well-organized research memoranda, reports, and summaries for attorneys.
• Identify relevant legal authorities and provide critical analysis of their applicability to specific case facts.
• Stay abreast of changes in relevant legislation and legal precedents affecting our client's operations.
• Assist in the development of legal arguments and strategies by providing well-researched support.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of research conducted and sources consulted.
• Collaborate virtually with attorneys and legal professionals to understand research needs and priorities.
