Placements24 is seeking a Remote Lead Security Engineer to spearhead security initiatives from anywhere, supporting Upington operations. You will design, implement and manage robust security systems while mentoring engineers and driving adoption of advanced technologies.

The role emphasizes proactive defense, cloud and on‑prem security, and leadership in a senior security program with opportunities for influencing the company’s security posture remotely.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in CS/Engineering/Cybersecurity.
• 8+ years in security engineering with 3+ years in lead/architect role.
• Expertise in network and application security, cryptography, IAM.
• Cloud security architectures on AWS/Azure and on‑premise systems.
• Scripting/automation: Python, Go, Ansible.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and implementation of advanced security solutions.
• Mentor a team of security engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Architect and manage security controls for cloud and on‑prem environments.
• Develop and automate security processes, tools and workflows.
• Conduct security reviews, threat modeling and risk assessments.
• Oversee incident response strategies and security operations improvements.
