Qualifications

• Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
• 10+ years post-graduate experience in large commercial construction projects.
• Experience leading a QS team.
• Expert knowledge of contract forms (FIDIC, NEC, JBCC).
• Proficiency in cost management software and databases.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage complex commercial situations and resolve disputes.
• Membership in a professional body (e.g., SACQSP, RICS) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the quantity surveying team, providing mentorship and guidance.
• Oversee cost estimation, budgeting, and financial reporting for commercial construction projects.
• Prepare tender documents, contract agreements, and negotiate with contractors and suppliers.
• Manage all aspects of the contract lifecycle, including variations, claims, and dispute resolution.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed projects.
• Monitor project expenditure, identify cost-saving opportunities, and manage financial risks.
• Ensure compliance with all contractual terms and relevant legislation.
• Prepare interim and final accounts, and manage payment certifications.
• Liaise with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients on all commercial matters.
