Placements24 is recruiting a Lead Project Manager to steer the development and enhancement of our e-commerce platforms. This fully remote role focuses on strategic roadmaps, planning, and delivery of major projects across features, upgrades, and performance improvements.

Ideal candidates will have 7+ years in PM for digital retail, expertise in major platforms (Shopify Plus, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud), and strong leadership for remote teams.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent online retail group, is seeking an experienced Lead Project Manager to manage the development and enhancement of their e-commerce platforms. This role is 100% remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while collaborating with a dynamic, distributed team. You will be responsible for overseeing the strategic roadmap, planning, execution, and delivery of key e-commerce projects, including new feature rollouts, platform upgrades, and performance optimizations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of e-commerce best practices, strong technical acumen, and exceptional leadership skills to guide cross-functional teams. This is a critical role for driving online growth and customer experience. While remote, collaboration will involve teams supporting regions that include Paarl, Western Cape.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex e-commerce projects from inception to completion.
• Develop and manage detailed project roadmaps, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, designers, marketing, and operations teams to ensure project success.
• Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with business strategy and customer needs.
• Oversee the implementation of new features, site enhancements, and platform integrations.
• Manage risks and issues, developing and executing mitigation plans.
• Track project performance and provide regular status updates to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Ensure a seamless and exceptional customer experience across all e-commerce touchpoints.
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within a remote, cross-functional team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of project management experience, with a strong focus on e-commerce platforms and digital retail.
• Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale e-commerce initiatives and product launches.
• Deep understanding of e-commerce technologies, platforms (e.g., Shopify Plus, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud), and best practices.
• Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) in a software development context.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage remote teams and foster a collaborative work environment.
• Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Asana) and analytics platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
• Experience with A/B testing and conversion rate optimization strategies is a plus.
