Job summary

A leading construction group is seeking a highly qualified Remote Lead Construction Health and Safety Officer to oversee safety programs across projects nationwide from a home office. The role requires deep knowledge of health and safety regulations, strong leadership, and auditing skills.

You will develop and enforce safety management systems, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with legislation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in OHS or related field.
• 8+ years of health and safety management in construction.
• Knowledge of SA OHS Act and related regulations.
• Able to work remotely and lead audits.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive health and safety programs for construction projects.
• Conduct regular site safety audits and inspections and recommend actions.
• Ensure compliance with national and local safety legislation and standards.
• Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports with preventative measures.
• Develop and deliver safety training for site personnel and management.
• Maintain safety documentation, records, and permits.
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety planning in all phases.
• Promote a positive safety culture and employee involvement.
• Stay current with evolving safety regulations and best practices.
• Advise senior management on health and safety matters and policy development.
