Placements24 is partnering with a cutting-edge technology firm in South Africa to hire an experienced Intellectual Property Counsel for a fully remote role. You will serve as the primary IP advisor on patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, managing the portfolio and guiding IP strategy from a global perspective.

The ideal candidate will lead proactive IP protection, draft and negotiate licensing agreements, and collaborate with R&D, marketing, and business development to safeguard

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 7 years specialized experience in Intellectual Property law.
• Proven experience in patent prosecution, trademark registration, and copyright matters.
• Strong understanding of IP litigation and enforcement strategies.
• Expertise in drafting and negotiating IP-related agreements.
• Ability to work independently, manage a global IP portfolio, and meet deadlines remotely.
• Admitted to practice as an Attorney in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, ZA.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the company's global IP strategy.
• Manage prosecution and maintenance of patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios.
• Conduct IP due diligence for acquisitions, partnerships, and licensing deals.
• Draft, review, and negotiate IP licensing agreements and cross-licensing.
• Advise on IP aspects of product development and marketing.
• Identify and protect trade secrets and confidential information.
• Manage IP disputes and opposition proceedings.
• Provide counsel on open-source software compliance.
• Stay abreast of evolving IP laws and trends globally.
• Collaborate with R&D, marketing, and business development teams on IP matters.
