Job summary

Placements24 seeks a dedicated Remote Information Security Officer to lead the client’s information security program for a fintech setup. This fully remote role focuses on policy development, security controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance (POPIA, PCI DSS).

You will conduct risk assessments, coordinate incident response, deliver security awareness training, and work with product and IT teams to weave security into the development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (relevant experience may substitute).
• 4–6 years of information security experience with policy development and risk management.
• Strong understanding of ISO 27001, NIST, and financial sector compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain information security policies, procedures, and standards.
• Oversee security controls to protect assets and data from threats.
• Conduct risk assessments and identify vulnerabilities.
• Manage incident response activities, including investigations and remediation.
• Ensure compliance with POPIA, PCI DSS and data protection laws.
• Develop and deliver security awareness training to employees.
• Monitor security systems and advise on upgrades or changes.
• Collaborate with technical teams to integrate security into product development and IT operations.
• Stay updated on cybersecurity threats and technologies.
• Serve as primary point of contact for information security matters.
