About the Role

Our client is a global leader in manufacturing solutions and is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Industrial Engineering Specialist to focus on Process Design . This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa . The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in conceptualizing, designing, and refining industrial processes for various projects, utilizing advanced simulation and modeling techniques. This role requires a proactive and self-disciplined individual who can effectively collaborate with international teams and stakeholders without the need for physical presence. You will be at the forefront of developing innovative and efficient manufacturing systems for a diverse client base.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop optimized industrial processes, workflows, and layouts using state-of-the-art CAD and simulation software. Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed process designs and improvements. Create detailed process documentation, including P&IDs, flow diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and engineering teams across different geographical locations to gather requirements and ensure design alignment. Apply lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality in process designs. Develop and validate simulation models to test process performance under various scenarios before physical implementation. Provide technical expertise and guidance on process design best practices throughout the project lifecycle. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in industrial engineering and manufacturing. Prepare and present design proposals, technical reports, and project updates to stakeholders. Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental considerations.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, with a strong emphasis on process design and optimization. Extensive experience with industrial process simulation and modeling software (e.g., Arena, AnyLogic, FlexSim). Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for layout design and visualization. Deep understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies. Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Experience working with international teams and diverse stakeholders is highly desirable. Must have reliable internet connectivity and a dedicated home office setup.
