Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Industrial Data Scientist to join a globally distributed team. You will leverage advanced analytics, ML, and time-series methods to extract insights from industrial datasets, optimize processes, and support remote decision-making for manufacturing clients.

You will collaborate with engineers and domain experts, design experiments, build data pipelines, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or related quantitative field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional Data Scientist experience with industrial/manufacturing data.
• Proficiency in Python and R with relevant ML libraries.
• Strong SQL and database management skills.
• Experience with time-series analysis, predictive modeling and anomaly detection.
• Familiarity with Spark/Hadoop and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration for remote work.
• Legally eligible to work remotely in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced statistical models and ML algorithms for large-scale industrial data.
• Identify trends and anomalies to predict equipment failures and optimize processes.
• Design experiments to test hypotheses and validate data-driven solutions.
• Build and maintain data pipelines for ingestion, cleaning, and transformation of data from diverse sources.
• Collaborate with engineers, software developers, and domain experts to define data requirements.
• Create clear data visualizations and reports for diverse audiences.
