Placements24 is assisting a Durban-based environmental charity in recruiting a Grant Writer and Fundraising Specialist for a fully remote role within South Africa. You will identify funding opportunities, craft grant proposals, and build donor relationships to support conservation efforts across KwaZulu-Natal.

The ideal candidate has proven grant-writing success, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Grant Writer or in fundraising with funded grants.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Ability to research funding opportunities and develop persuasive proposals.
• Strong understanding of the non-profit sector and conservation is desirable.
• Excellent research, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Experience with grant management software or databases.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills for donor relations.

Responsibilities

• Identify grant funding sources including foundations, corporations, and government bodies.
• Write, edit, and submit persuasive grant proposals and reports.
• Develop and maintain a grants calendar for timely submissions.
• Cultivate and manage donor relationships.
• Collaborate with program staff to gather information for proposals.
• Track grant funding status and ensure reporting compliance.
• Assist in developing broader fundraising strategies.
• Stay informed on grant writing and fundraising best practices.
• Communicate impact of conservation projects to funders in written materials.
