Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Grant Writer & Development Officer to secure funding for a charity focused on essential services in Mossel Bay and beyond. You will identify opportunities, craft compelling proposals, and build strong donor relationships while working independently with a distributed team.

The role requires 5–7 years of grant-writing experience, exceptional writing skills, and a strategic mindset to diversify funding streams in a fully remote capacity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Philanthropy, Public Administration, or related field; Master’s is a plus.
• Minimum 5–7 years of grant writing and fundraising experience for non-profits.
• Proven success in securing grants from diverse sources.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading with strong attention to detail.
• Research skills to identify grant opportunities.
• Understanding of non-profit financial management and program evaluation.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build donor relationships.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, able to work remotely and manage multiple projects.
• Familiarity with Mossel Bay, Western Cape community is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Research and identify funding sources including foundations, government agencies, and corporate foundations.
• Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals and reports that align with funder requirements.
• Develop and maintain relationships with program staff to gather information for proposals and reporting.
• Cultivate and steward relationships with donors and prospects.
• Manage grant application calendar and deadlines.
• Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan to diversify funding streams.
• Track grant outcomes and prepare reports for funders.
• Assist in developing fundraising materials such as case statements and sponsorship packages.
