Job summary

Placements24 invites an experienced Senior Grant Writer and Development Officer to drive funding for conservation initiatives. This fully remote role enables you to contribute from Mossel Bay, Western Cape, while cultivating donor relationships and delivering compelling grant proposals.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in non-profit grant writing, exceptional writing/editing skills, budgeting capability, and CRM experience. A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Environmental Science, Non-profit Management, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of grant writing and non-profit development with a track record of grants awarded.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with clear narratives.
• Strong research skills to identify funding sources.
• Experience developing project budgets and financial reporting.
• Experience with donor databases and CRMs.

Responsibilities

• Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
• Develop persuasive grant proposals with narratives, budgets, and supporting documents.
• Manage the grant lifecycle from research to submission, reporting, and stewardship.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with program officers and donors.
• Collaborate with program staff to reflect project goals in proposals.
• Track deadlines and ensure timely submission of materials.
• Assist in broader fundraising strategies, including donor appeals.
• Monitor grant-funded projects and prepare impact reports.
• Stay informed on trends in grant writing and development.
