Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Geotechnical Engineer with a minimum of 7 years in geotechnical engineering, especially in mining. The role requires mastery of FLAC, PLAXIS and Rocscience software, strong rock and soil mechanics knowledge, and the ability to work effectively from a dedicated home office.

You will analyze ground conditions, design stable excavations and ground support, and contribute to safe mining operations worldwide.

Qualifications

Master's or PhD in Geotechnical, Civil, or related field.
7+ years of geotechnical experience, mining focus preferred.
Proficiency in FLAC, PLAXIS, Rocscience tools.
Solid knowledge of rock and soil mechanics in mining.
Experience in numerical modeling and stability analysis.
Strong report writing and communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Member of a relevant engineering body.
Reliable high-speed internet and a home office setup.

Responsibilities

Conduct geotechnical investigations and analyses using advanced modeling software.
Assess stability of underground excavations, open pits and surface infrastructure.
Design ground support systems and excavation methods.
Develop geotechnical risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
Review geological data and interpret geotechnical information.
Prepare comprehensive reports, specs and recommendations.
Provide technical guidance to project teams remotely.
Collaborate with planners, engineers and geologists on project design.
Stay updated on geotechnical principles and best practices.
Participate in virtual meetings and client consultations.
