Placements24 is seeking a Remote Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead complex geotechnical challenges for major mining projects worldwide. You will guide advanced analyses, develop robust numerical models, and mentor engineers in a fully remote setting.

The role requires a PhD, 12+ years in mining geotechnical engineering, and strong leadership with experience in FLAC3D/UDEC/PFC/Phase3D/Rocscience. International project exposure and client-facing responsibilities are expected.

Qualifications

• PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Rock Mechanics, or related discipline.
• 12+ years of extensive geotechnical experience in mining.
• Advanced numerical modeling software expertise (FLAC3D, UDEC, PFC, Phase3D, Rocscience).
• Proven track record leading major geotechnical projects and advising clients.
• Deep understanding of rock mass characterization and constitutive modeling.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and mentoring abilities.
• PE or equivalent international registration desirable.

Responsabilités

• Lead complex geotechnical investigations and analyses for underground/open-pit mines.
• Develop and validate advanced numerical models for rock mass behavior and slope stability.
• Interpret geological data, identify risks and mitigation strategies.
• Design ground support, excavation methods, and foundation solutions.
• Mentor project teams and junior engineers remotely, provide technical guidance.
• Prepare and review high-level reports, specs, and client presentations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across regions/time zones.
• Contribute to business development through proposals and client relations.
• Stay updated on geotechnical advancements and promote adoption within the company.
• Ensure top-quality deliverables and professional practice.
